Las Vegas Club
Las Vegas Club opened in 1930 and closed in 2015, after 85 years, downtown near Fremont Street, with up to 410 rooms. On the site today: Circa Resort & Casino.
The story
The Las Vegas Club opened in 1930 and in 1949 moved across the street into the Overland Hotel. Jackie Gaughan and Mel Exber bought it in 1962 and gave it a sports theme. Hotel towers followed in 1980 and 1996. Gaughan sold it to Barrick Gaming in 2004, and its partner Tamares Group took full control the next year. The 410-room hotel closed in April 2013. Derek and Greg Stevens, who owned two other downtown casinos, bought it and closed the casino on 20 August 2015, first planning a renovation and then deciding to knock it down. Demolition began in 2017, and Circa Resort & Casino opened on the site in October 2020.
