Earning

Non-gaming spend earns 4 tier credits per $1. This covers hotel folio (room rate when booked direct, resort fee, early or late check-in fees), dining at participating outlets, shows bought at MGM box offices or online while signed in, spa, cabanas and retail. Dining also earns 1 MGM Rewards Point per $1. Slots, video poker, ETGs and VLTs earn by wager, game type and denomination. Tables earn by time, average bet and game type. MGM does not publish gaming rates. Taxes, tips and comps don't earn.

Tier credits count January 1 to December 31 and reset to zero on January 1. Status runs for the benefit year from February 1 to January 31. Status reached mid-year lasts for the rest of the current benefit year and all of the next one.

Points

MGM Rewards Points can be redeemed for rooms, dining, shows and spa at MGM resorts. Redeeming doesn't affect tier. Dining earns 1 point per $1. The rules cap balances at '$5,000 in MGM Rewards Points' ($10,000 for NOIR), which suggests the points are shown in dollars. Press values them at 1 cent each (100 points = $1). Points can expire after 6 months of inactivity for Sapphire members only.

Comps on the big nights

Yes, officially. MGM's Cosmopolitan F1 offer page says rooms for the Grand Prix stay nights (Nov 17-24, 2026) 'must be booked at prevailing rate(s)'. In other words, no tier discount on those nights. Wynn's comp-room offer terms list blackout dates on the 2025 F1 nights (Nov 22-24) and New Year's Eve (Dec 31). Caesars' tier-benefits page says blackout dates may apply to hotel offers. No official statement was found that names CES specifically. (source) Free-room offers are hardest to use when the Strip is full. The dearest nights coming up are Mon 16 Nov, Tue 17 Nov, Tue 1 Dec, Thu 31 Dec.
